There are a lot of free printables out there, but none of them use Dubay Italic.  I fell in love with this handwriting series because it is so legible.

Here are some Italic Handwriting Printables. I never did finish the series so it only goes up to J. Maybe one day!

Level 1 – Preschool through 2nd depending on child.

Level 1 – The Letter “A” through the Letter “E”

Level 1 – The Letter “F” through the Letter “J”

Level 1 – Rule Only Handwriting Sheet

Level 2 – 1st through 3rd depending on child.

Level 2 – The Letter “A” through the Letter “E”

Goals for homeschooling.

4 Jun

The original name of my blog was Homeschooling Rules! CB104577

I changed it when I realized I really didn’t know that much about homeschooling.

I still don’t know that much about homeschooling, but I am growing in knowledge and wisdom.

I am excited about our annual homeschool/parenting conference that begins tonight at 7 pm.

We will have speakers, curriculum, used books and most importantly encouragement. The encouragement to continue home educating our children.

What is your goal for home education?

Well for many it is the best possible academics. For others it is a desire to live a separated life unto the Lord.

My husband and I want to spend every day living and learning with our kids about life and the Lord. I realized a long time ago that I cannot impart my faith to my children if I am not with them.

Now that my oldest child is 15, I see how quickly the time goes.  How fleeting is our ability to impact these precious children.

I admit it is difficult to get things done with little ones. But I see now that even the baby (9 weeks old) is quickly growing up. Will I have enough time to make a difference?

My desire is for my children to love God with all their hearts and seek Him for themselves. They will spend far more time out of our home than they will in it. My prayer is that I won’t waste our time together.

I promise that this weekend will not be a waste of time or money. I hope to meet you and see you there! char

New ideas… new year!

3 Jun

well trained mindHas anyone read the Well-Trained Mind by Susan Wise Bauer?  I am loving it.I am going to incorporate many of the ideas she has this year with my children.  As you may know I have an entirely new set of kids coming through the ranks now that my oldest is in high school.  This year I will have a 10th grader, 4th grader, 2nd grader and 1st grader.  It is pretty exciting to be able to start over again and try a new method and see how it works for our family.  I like being able to try new things.. and if they don’t work… well it is ok!

What new things are you trying this year?

Tell me!

The situation that took an hour and a half this morning is solved before swim practice! Books are found. Goodwill is restored. My hope in mankind is salvaged.

Well sort of.

I am sure there will be missing books again.

Homeschooling Books Mysteriously Missing

2 Jun

Has anyone seen Brooke’s homeschooling books? She can’t seem to find them. SHE CAN”T FIND THEM. She has looked EVERYWHERE. Susan put them somewhere. She hasn’t seen them in a month. It is not fair.

Hmm.

How many places can a stack of schoolwork hide?

I guess we will see if it is easier to find them if we can’t go anywhere or do anything until they are found.

Wish me luck!
